SB 1063 would have stopped cities from taxing food. Hobbs vetoed it — and families kept paying.

Senate Bill 1063 barred municipalities from taxing groceries meant for home consumption. It was straightforward cost relief. Hobbs vetoed it, claiming it would “move costs around.”
Translation: cities keep the tax money, you keep the higher receipt. If Arizona feels less affordable, start at the checkout line — and at her veto letter.
