WHY IT MATTERED: The practical reason for this bill was to set a clear legal boundary for officials instead of leaving the conduct unaddressed. It would prohibit elected election officers and appointees of elected election officers that oversee any aspect of an election from serving as a chairperson, treasurer or other member of a PAC, and would also specifies this law does not apply to an individual's membership in a candidate committee for that individual's own candidacy, rather than leave the current rule unchanged.
