Hobbs Put Her Name on Doubling the Gas Tax

As a senator, Hobbs cosponsored SB 1316 to raise Arizona’s fuel tax from 18¢ to 36¢ — and backed county fuel taxes too.

Before she was governor, Katie Hobbs was already comfortable making you pay more to drive.

SB 1316 would have doubled the state motor fuel tax. Hobbs was a cosponsor. She also cosponsored county motor-fuel tax bills in 2015 and 2017 — so local governments could pile on at the pump.

Now she talks about affordability while Arizona drivers stare at $4 and $5 pumps. Higher gas taxes when she writes them. No relief when you need it.
