As a state senator she did not hide the ball. She cosponsored SB 1316 to double Arizona’s motor fuel tax from 18 cents to 36 cents a gallon. Before that she put her name on SB 1160 and SB 1250 — bills to let counties stack their own fuel taxes on top.
As governor she did not undo it. She never signed a gas-tax cut. She vetoed the Legislature’s transportation budgets in 2023, 2025, and 2026. The pattern is the record: write the tax, then use the veto so drivers get nothing back.
